My one tip for moving assignees is to not forget cultural training. Not only for the employee, but also for the receiving manager. I think it's often overlooked and super critical for the success of the assignment. Regardless of the location.

Global Mobility & Immigration At the center of Relocation is Immigration Moving an employee across borders to work the key element of any Global Mobility program and without effective Immigration processes this would not be possible. Immigration is what Global Mobility HR Professionals need to be aware of and always in tune with. You want to avoid having a situation where the employee gets to the airport and they're denied entry because they either don't have the proper visa or the proper paperwork in order to enter that country. Global Mobility Seat at the Table Ensuring Relevance Global Mobility can ensure its relevance, by aligning its strategies with the business objectives and as well as leveraging, technology, to enhance operational efficiency and also improve customer or employee experience. You always have to prove your relevance, in whatever aspect, whatever seat at the table you actually take. And I always perceived global mobility as the enabler of the business. So we facilitate the moving we facilitate the business, facilitate even the financial operations.

Global Mobility Making Policies Preparing Researching Benchmarking our Global Mobility policies and looking at the right fit is key. I think providing or looking at the benchmarks, not only within your industry, but within the mobility market space is incredibly important. When making her amending global mobility policies, my number one advice is to know in advance what you're trying to solve for and know what your employee needs are. Ensure that you have baseline data to start with. I always recommend a survey or a focus group prior to making any policy changes, to really understand what's important to your employee.

Global Mobility Employee Well-Being A Key Priority From a global mobility perspective, it's about trying to understand those needs be a bit encouraging and try and allow the employee to juggle that that work balance post, you know, moving. I think offering support for family members in our relocation policies is critical here, such as offering spousal support at home, finding school search support. These types of benefits are really going to help the family integrate into their new community and really ease in the transition to any new location.

Global Mobility 2024 to 2025 Preparation & Planning Watch, Includes Global Mobility HR insights from the HR event GMJ Congress December 2024! Global Mobility is helping talent get to the locations they are needed in. This may be in the same country or continent or across the world. Sometimes this means that we're only moving the employee. Other times it means that we're moving the entire family.

The Shape of Global Mobility Defining Talents Location Most simply put, global mobility is helping talent get to the locations they are needed in. My definition of global mobility is really, you know, the act of helping an individual or an individual in his or her family move from one country to another. I know that there is a lot of domestic relocations, but my experience is primarily cross-border movement. So it's anything and everything that entails immigration and tax, pension, social securities, banking, housing, shipment of goods.

The Importance of being Global Mobility Supporting Talent Global mobility has definitely earned our seat at the table, especially the last several years where we've taken on new work. While there has been remote work, business travel. I think to keep the seat at the table, we have to stay agile and innovative. It's, dynamic environment, when we need to be constantly on top of everything because, as I said, dynamic environment, requires a lot of dynamic decisions and, for us, it's, it's a chance, but it's a, it's an opportunity, but also it's a huge challenge how to be on top of everything. And make sure that we are capturing all changes or, or all challenges from all possible angles, taxes, immigration, social security, relocation from employer perspective, from employer perspective.

Power of AI and Global Mobility Making Progress I expect technology to play a crucial role in our evolution as we introduce AI and data analytics to better manage compliance and track employee movement. AI is super important for mobility. I guess all the mobility professionals would agree with. And I can, take out a lot of friction, especially in the low mobility processes, beat automating repetitive routine tasks such as, I don't know, document tracking and, take it one step further. We could use or leverage AI to engage in predictive analysis to help us better plan.

Global Mobility & Relocation Stories Going Beyond Moving from one continent to another asked that a bronze statue of a horse, was to be moved. Being sentimental value. He said it serves as motivation. We didn't get to hear the whole backstory, cut a long story short, we managed to replicate this almost Lifesize bronze statue. We relocated two parrots from the US to the Netherlands, and they needed, a special cage. They needed special food. We had to find a special place for them to live, and they would accept parrots and have the right lighting and everything.

Global Mobility Pro Tips Best Practices I always put myself in the employee shoes and read the policy through their eyes. Not as a GM or a professional. If something sounds too jargon heavy or makes me raise an eyebrow, I know it won't land well with someone who's about to uproot their entire life and move countries. So, I rephrase, simplify, and make sure the tone feels supportive and not robotic. When making good mobility policies, my one top tip would be let us not forget, this is the people. Let us keep it human. Of course, compliance and cost control are all very important. However, policies that are flexible, clear, empathetic to the employee and their experience of going through while, moving across all this will always result in higher engagement and I can promise and fewer exceptions.

Pivot & Adapt Global Mobility Navigating Change Global Mobility has definitely earned our seat at the table, especially the last several years where we've taken on new work. While there has been remote work, business, travel. I think to keep the seat at the table, we have to stay agile and innovative. So we basically advise and counsel and educate, businesses and come up with creative solutions to help businesses manage and meet their goals.

Global Mobility Travel Policy Navigating Challenges We are most definitely in a time of flux. While as global mobility, a global society, we've mastered the art of working remotely in that home, many countries are allowing digital nomads. I don't see global mobility going away, though. Even with all those mechanisms, we're going to still need to have individuals in the right location. So I think we can never be only focused on the country that we're operating in. We must appreciate and accept that these employees come from different backgrounds and different countries. And in addition to learning, the United States, we also must be mindful and empathetic to the background and the culture where they may be coming from and their home locations.

Celebrating Global Mobility Why I love Mobility So the thing I love most about global mobility is the ability to help people, but also to get to see how it propels their career forward. I love this industry, Global Mobility. It's ever changing. No day is ever the same. Even though I've been in mobility for almost 15 years, I learn something new every single day. When it comes to the core tasks, the immigration function is what I love most. I think being part of an employee's immigration journey from the start to the finish is self-fulfilling.

AI aligned with Global Mobility Collaborative Enhancement AI can enhance global mobility by streamlining processes, improving decision making, and enhancing the overall experience for all stakeholders. AI is going to support us extremely in actually taking some of the administrative tasks and burdens that are quite time consuming off the mobility consultants and getting answers that are very much about policy and the process, and very simple answers to the transferees and assigns instantaneously, freeing up the consultants to actually provide meaningful support, consultative services, and continue to anticipate the needs of the global mobility population.

Mobility 2025 Towards 2026 The Era of Change With all that's happened this year, including with immigration, has really just paved the way for Global Mobility to truly be a strategic partner of the business. I think they finally understand the value that we bring and the impact that we can make. Employers need Talent, Countries need Solutions. And Global Mobility sits right at the intersection. So how do we know we give those paths? How flexible and forward thinking have they become? All those processes will define our success in the coming years. There is a lot to reflect on that. And I think there is a lot to come as well.

Global Mobility Global World Connecting Global mobility allows for businesses to have their people where they need them at every moment in time. Global mobility to the business, I think really helps as more of like a HR service, if you will. I feel like that's how most companies see it. And by that I mean that it really is a people. Group, meaning that it is supporting, you know, the people and the team in order to, either help with an immigration case or help with a relocation case.

How AI helps Global Mobility Expanding Potential AI can revolutionize global mobility by simplifying complexity and also enhancing decision making capacity. So from predicting your assignment cost, flagging compliance risks and automating any immigration workflows, AI helps mobility teams move faster and smarter. I think AI is going to support us extremely in actually taking some of the administrative tasks and burdens that are quite time consuming off the mobility consultants.
